In the chill of winter, we make miso,
Awaiting its slow fermentation with patience.

We cherish our antique tableware from local,
Gently hand washing them instead of placing them in the dishwasher,
And if they crack, we mend them with kintsugi, extending their life.

To ferment miso from soybeans,
To make and savor Ariake seaweed-wrapped rice balls with Saga local rice,
To cook, luxuriating in the silky smoothness of hot spring tofu.

Even the mundane meals of ordinary days,
When plated on favorite dishes, uplift our spirits.
